Did Jagan accept iPhone-6 gifted by the TDP govt

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is never gets tired of letting the world know how cash-strapped his state has become post bifurcation. However, his government has gifted iPhone-6 to 175 members of the legislative assembly.

The Government has spent Rs 1 crore to present iPhone 6 to each of the 175 members in the State Assembly and 40 members of Legislative Council.

The main opposition party YSRCP leaders who have been questioning the Government as to why Chandrababu was spending such huge amounts including for air fares at a time when he is going around the town with a begging bowl for donations for the new capital, did not shy away from accepting the costly phones.

It is learnt that at one point of time, the YSRCP thought of asking its members not to accept the gift and suggest to the CM to utilise the Rs 40 lakh the government was spending on YSRCP MLAs towards loan waiver or some other such scheme.

But there was a division of opinion within the party over this issue.  Most of them felt that it was not proper to refuse the costly gift being given by the State Government and they left the final decision to party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Finally, they decided to accept the gift.

The hot discussion in the political circles is that how did YS Jagan allow his party leaders to accept the gift. Interestingly, all the YSRCP MLAs collected the  iPhones.

But it is not known if the YSRCP chief has aceppted Apple's finest phone or not.
