CM to inaugurate Maha Mandapam in Bejawada Durga Temple

VIJAYAWADA: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate Mallikarjuna Maha Mantapam of Durga temple here  on April 10 between 11:10 am and 11:58 am, the ‘muhurtham’ fixed by Sringeri Peetham pontiff Sri Jagadguru Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamy.

Pontiff’s first disciple Purushothama Bharati Mahaswamy will perform Kalisa Prathishta and Sri Chakra Prathishta for the nine-storeyed ‘rajagopuram’ of the temple on the same day for same ‘muhurtham’.

Speaking to newsmen, temple EO Ch Narasinga Rao said the cost of construction of ‘rajagopuram’ was `15.5 cr and ‘Mallikarjuna Maha Mandapam’ and other works was `34.82 cr. The total cost of the works was `50.32 cr.

He admitted that construction of the ramp should have been done along with the other works, but they will take it up without compromising on safety measures. “I had suggested to the government to engage L&T for works or invite global tenders. A decision would be announced soon,” he said.
