AU to act tough on college

Andhra University Vice Chancellor GSN Raju. – A File Photo. Andhra University Vice Chancellor G.S.N. Raju has said that the permanent affiliation granted to Buddha Ramesh Babu Memorial (BRBM) Degree College at Kancharapalem in the city would be cancelled, if necessary, based on the findings of the enquiry committee.

It may be recalled that the B. Sc final year examination in ‘web technology’, which was scheduled to be held on March 25, was cancelled as it was found that the question paper was leaked at the BRBM Degree College centre a few hours before the examination.

Interacting with the media, Prof. Raju said that the college management had suspended the Principal for his alleged involvement in the leakage of the question paper. Based on the findings of the committee, which was constituted to inquire into the leakage of the question paper, the permanent affiliation of the college would also be cancelled.

Andhra University Registrar V. Umamaheswara Rao received a message at around 11 a.m. on that day stating that the question paper had leaked at a college in Scindia area. Teams were sent to the area but it turned out to be false. Checks at BRBM Degree College revealed that a question paper bundle was opened by 11.30 a.m. in violation of the guidelines that they should not be opened before 2 p.m.

The Vice Chancellor said that prima facie enquiries revealed that the Principal and two students were responsible for the leak. He said that enquiries had revealed that there was no truth in the rumours of paper leak yesterday also. Describing the leakage of the question paper as ‘unfortunate’, Prof. Raju said stringent measures were being taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
