The impressive ceremony featuring a host of spectacular events including Kirita Dharana (adorning Lord Rama with a glittering crown) lasted for a little over two hours at Mithila Stadium.

Scores of devotees watched the grand ceremony held in a spiritually surcharged atmosphere at the stadium, adjoining the historical Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple.

Telangana and A.P. Governor E S L Narasimhan and his wife Vimala Narasimhan presented pattuvastrams to the presiding deities of the temple on the occasion. Earlier, they offered special pujas at the historical shrine.

The Mithila Stadium came alive with hectic religious activity for the second consecutive day on Sunday with hordes of devotees flocking to the venue to attend the coronation ceremony.

The utsav idols of the presiding deities of the temple were brought to the stadium in a colourfully-decorated palanquin.

The priests performed the ceremonial rituals extolling Lord Rama, the embodiment of virtues and his divine nature as the devotees watched the mega religious event with reverence.

They adored the utsav idol of Lord Rama with Raja Mudrika, Raja Dhandam and Chatram as part of the coronation ceremony.

Rathotsavam was conducted amid religious fervour and spiritual exuberance as part of the ongoing Sri Rama Navami Brahmotsavam later in the day.
